The Cool Property

luxury_house_on_3.5_acres_of_green_propertyAlmost 3½ acres of nature.  If green space is what you are after, welcome home.  Thoughtful, creative, in-synch and native landscaping surrounds the house.  Blooming flowers, trees, shrubbery, wild berries and more ensure an active and vibrant garden from early spring to late fall.  Select evergreens and other winter plants ensure color and balance throughout the year.  Enjoy fresh seasonal blueberries, raspberries and blackberries from your berry patch, and apples, pears, peaches and figs as your small orchid matures.  The vegetable garden is ready to plant in the spring.  A solid oak winemaking barrel has been converted into a water barrel for environmentally friendly watering of the garden.  A large outdoor fire pit provides the perfect hangout and cookout spot on those cool spring and fall evenings, fueled by wood from the property.

Away from the house, the property is “natural”.  A range of trees and shrubs gives the feeling of a nature reserve.  This past summer, the bush was controlled by a crew of 20 goats, providing natural and environmentally friendly bush management.  Over the medium-term, the gentle slopes of the property will gradually be reclaimed and converted  into natural, native meadows with low maintenance grasses and wildflowers.  The meadows will mix with the many mature trees and new plantings thoughtfully interspersed for year-round color and beauty.

certified_wildlife_habitatThe property is a “Certified Wildlife Habitat” by the National Wildlife Federation.  This means that it has the four essential elements for wildlife: food, water, shelter and places to raise the young.  As a year-round bird sanctuary, enjoy dozens of bird species from the convenience and comfort of your deck.  Wild turkeys, rabbits, squirrels and other small animals are frequent visitors.  The landscape includes the best plant varieties to attract some of the most colorful and beautiful butterflies you will find anywhere.  The area is also know for occasional sightings of dear and sometimes bears.
